After learning about the Revolutionary War and reading the novel, George Washington's Socks, students felt that they connected with the soldiers who fought for freedom and democracy. Students honored the diversity of America by translating the story into Spanish and Vietnamese.

After researching the 2006 Congressional candidates, California campaigns, ballot propositions and political ads, students felt they better understood how to get involved in the political process. "Even though we aren't old enough to vote, we got a chance to publicize our views and hopefully impact the election." -10th grade student
