EWYL Project: Electronic Portfolios
Real World Connections
This project takes advantage of technology to give students insight into real world situations. Published authors and illustrators utilize portfolios to collect and exhibit their work. To help make this accessible for second graders, they will use templates in PowerPoint to publish their work and reflections. A Project Based Learning format will allow students to work collaboratively as their knowledge grows. Children will share their learning with each other, family and friends through projects capable of publication on the world wide web. We will integrate the real world through the following activities:
- Working with the school’s visiting author.
- Working with the visiting artist in residence from the Silicon Valley Art Initiative.
- Presentation of projects to other classrooms.
- Presentation of projects to family, friends and the community during Open House in May 2005.
