THE HIDDEN VILLA CHALLENGES

Each time you go to Hidden Villa you start your day by making a big circle with all of your classmates. This is when you will be first meet your Hidden Villa guides. You will probably sing some songs and talk about the plan for the day. At the end, your guides will explain the three challenges for the day: TRY SOMETHING NEW, TAKE CARE AND HAVE FUN!

TRYING SOMETHING NEW is an important challenge when you are on a field trip to Hidden Villa because you will probably be doing a lot of things for the first time. Learning at Hidden Villa is hands-on. That means that you get to learn by actually doing things. Therefore, if you are too scared, shy or stubborn to try doing something new you will miss out on a lot of learning during the day. To meet the challenge TRY SOMETHING NEW it's important to have an open mind and be ready to take some risks. You might get to taste something new from the garden or have the opportunity to touch an animal you've never been close to before. At first trying something new might feel a little scary or akward, but we promise that if you do, you'll learn a lot and have tons of fun!

Another important challenge is to TAKE CARE. There are many things you can take care of during the day including the environment, the people in your group and yourself. By being kind, caring and respectful you can help everyone have a wonderful day and keep the Hidden Villa environment beautiful. You could help take care of the environment by being really careful not to accidently drop any garbage on the ground, stay on the trails and pet the animals gently. Because learning at Hidden Villa requires that kids take risks, it is particularly important that everyone in your group feels supported. You can help the people in your group by talking respectfully to others, following directions and encouraging your classmates to feel brave about trying new things.

Meeting the challenge HAVE FUN is easy at Hidden Villa. There are just so many interesting things to learn and do. It's important to have fun while you are learning because you are able to understand and remember a lot more when you are enjoying yourself. When you come to Hidden Villa ready to try new things and treat others kindly you are sure to have absolutely no problem meeting the challenge HAVE FUN!
