Throughout our partnership projects with Hidden Villa we have used many internet resources to support student learning. Here is a short summary of the best or most useful websites we have used so far this year. Later this year we will be developing a webquest to help students navegate this site and various links in preparation for their Hidden Vila field trip.

DONT BUY IT This is a beautifully crafted website for kids that, among other things, examines food advertising. Kids can get a "behind the scenes" look the decisions made to make food seem appealing to customers.
COOLFOOD PLANET This is a fun, interactive site about nutrition. You can enter it in many different languages, including English and Spanish.

WILDKIDS This site is actually created by the Australian Museum. However, it has a wonderuful, easy to use, interactive site that allows students to study the defining atributes of the major habitat types.
EARTH PULSE National Geographic, of course, has a lot of information avaliable online. I found this page particullary helpful. It presents several major environmental and social issues and organizes links within the National Geographic site to find information on each one. This is also where students can find several "virtual worlds" of various ecosystems.

Native Americans
CALIFORNIA An interactive timeline is used to navegate through this site on California History.
AMERICAN Developed by the Carnegie Museum, this is a gorgeous site that divides the United States into the major geographic regions. In each region there is a detailed description of the Native American Tribes in that area and of the defining features of the ecosytem that sustained them.
