Literacy Information Skills
Students will access and gather information effectively and efficiently. Students will be taught how to locate information from various sources (electronic catalogues, encyclopedias, dictionaries, and web sites online.)

Whiteboard located in the hallway, designed by the students daily, after they access the National Weather Service Web site.

1. Gather information and communicate with others using telecommunications, with support from teachers, family members, or student partners.

Basic operations and concepts

Use input devices (e.g., mouse, keyboard, remote control) and output devices (e.g., scanner, printer) to successfully operate computers, VCRs, audio tapes,and other technologies.

Essential Standards and Benchmarks, Grade 2 - Information and Inquiry

2.1 -  Locate information from preselected Internet sites and web pages.

3.1 - Identify and define basic computer terminology.

Tech vocabulary words are cut and pasted into students' notebooks. Drawings and /or definitions are written under or near words as they are explained during weekly sessions.
